Summer is flying by and back-to-school time is around the corner. In the
midst of school supply shopping and getting all the backpacks packed, we
wanted to offer a few healthy back-to-school tips to keep the transition
smooth:
Make sure the snacks are prepacked! At the beginning of each week,
portion out healthy snacks like carrots, pretzels, cheese and crackers
to make grab-and-go easy in the mornings.
Catch all the zzz’s you can. Preschoolers (3-5 years old): 10-13 hours
per night, school-age children (6-12 years old): 9-12 hours per night,
and teenagers (13-18 years old): 8-10 hours per night.
Test the stress. Make sure to have conversations with your children
about their days and encourage them to open up as much as they are
comfortable. Take time to really listen to what they say and remain
judgement-free as much as possible.
Sharing is caring, but only for so long. Remind your children to not
share water bottles, hair supplies, or other items that may spread germs
or illnesses.
