There is a lot of different nutrition information floating around these days! March is National Nutrition Month and our Registered Dietitians want to help people realize what is fact and what is fiction when it comes to eating healthy.
ANSWER: FICTION - The serving size listed on a Nutrition Facts label reflects how much people tend to consume. It’s not a recommended serving size. Consider this when reaching for your next snack. You don’t have to perfectly align with serving sizes and can instead use them as a guideline.
ANSWER: FICTION - In addition to protein, the human body needs a regular supply of other nutrients including carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, minerals and water to support all its functions. This is why it is important to eat well rounded meals and include a variety of options on your plate.
ANSWER: FACT - Most of our calories each day should come from nutrient-dense foods and drinks, which means they contain no or little amounts of added sugars, saturated fat, and sodium.
