Dr. Aronoff received his undergraduate degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina and his medical degree with honors from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. He did his internship at the Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas and his residency in internal medicine at the Barnes Hospital, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. He then completed a Fellowship in Metabolism and Endocrinology at the Washington University School of Medicine. After completing his studies, Dr. Aronoff became Chief of the Phoenix Clinical Research Section of the National Institute of Arthritis, Metabolism & Digestive Diseases of the National Institutes of Health in Phoenix, Arizona. He also served as acting Branch Chief of the Southwest Field Studies Branch of the National Institutes of Health.
Dr. Aronoff has been a Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School from 1983-2016, a clinical endocrinologist at Endocrine Associates of Dallas, PA, and Director of the Research Institute of Dallas from 1983-2015. He is board certified in Endocrinology and Metabolism Subspecialty by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Aronoff is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Endocrinology, and is a member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, and the Endocrine Society. He has previously been an active member in the American Diabetes Association, and has served as president of the Dallas County chapter.
He is the past president (2007-2008) of the Texas chapter of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists.
His research has been published in book chapters and peer-reviewed journals such as the American Journal of Physiology, The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism, Lancet and the journal Diabetes. Dr Aronoff has published more than 30 articles and 18 abstracts in medical journals.
